In the 40 plus years as an established and well known entrepreneur, Richard Branson is unlike no other businessman. He is an visionary who creates solutions to problems and is always keen to share his business advice.
In today’s Monday Mindset blog, we’d like to share some tips from the great man himself to help you change the world too.
What is the reason for your Business?
If it’s not helping people or improving the world then you need to look at it again. Did you know that Branson was so unhappy with the customer service from British Airways that he decided to start his own airline, Virgin Atlantic! His number one aim in creating this well liked and vibrant airline was to make sure the customer was always a priority.
You have got to be passionate about what you do, if you are you will make sure you make it top notch! Think about why you want to be an entrepreneur, what excites you and gets you jumping out of the bed in the mornings. That’s your passion, more so if it’s doing something that makes a difference in the world.
Entrepreneurs don’t procrastinate
One of Branson’s main motivations isn’t about money; you’d be surprised to hear. He says that it’s much more important to build a business you would be proud of ‘If money is your only motive, then I believe you shouldn’t launch the business at all’.
He goes onto say that you need to find out what your own motivations and aspirations are. Once you do structure your business in a way that you can tap into this energy. If you do this it will create real energy and commitment, which in turn can help you accomplish anything. And if you have staff, get them to work out theirs too – it works wonders for moral and everyone is on the same page where your business’s success is concerned.
Branson also advises that it can be very tough in the first year of any business so you’ve got to have the commitment and drive to keep pushing through. No matter how easy it would be to throw in the towel or given in because you are tired or afraid, you have to figure out a way to keep going.
