Monday Mindset: the 80/20 rule and one simple decision

I spent an amazing three days last week at my VIP LEAP retreat with my mentor Bernadette Doyle. This is my second retreat of the three I have in this programme, and I’ve definitely LEAPT in leaps and bounds since the last time we met – creating over $23,000 in just three days from one launch, and going on to then achieve my first six-figure launch (both programmes delivered using JigsawBox of course), halving my work hours, growing my team to four,  travelling to some really cool places and meeting some fantastic people that I LOVE speaking with AND I now hold the keys to further business success for me.

I’m not telling you this to brag, I’m telling you this to inspire you with how much you can achieve in just four months.

And I’ve been asked a lot in the past few days – “How did you do it?” so I wanted to share my simple answer here. I just decided. I decided to surround myself with inspirational, high flying business owners in my mastermind group, and then I thought:

“Right. The 80/20 rule means that 20% of us here in this room are going to achieve 80% of the results. I’m going to be one of the 20%.”

Then I did what it took to make that happen.

Now some might say that’s extremely competitive (and I am, I have to admit). However, by making huge leaps you can raise up the average progress of the group as a whole by inspiring them and sharing with them just how you did it – in fact I think it’s pretty selfish NOT to take responsibility for helping any group you’re part of do just that.

So surround yourself with people who are, who do, and who have what you want. Then simply decide you’ll be one of the 20% of those people who flies and do what you can to raise the average results of the group as a whole.

Decide to be one of the 20% getting 80% of the results.

Love to hear your comments.

Monday Mindset: Who are you learning from?

I’ve just spent a FABULOUS three days with my mentor Bernadette Doyle at her 3-day event, More Leads, More Clients, More Sales. The practical stuff Bernadette shared was obviously awesome, but do you know the main reason I went? I find being in the mere presence of that woman inspires me to take my business to a higher level.

It is commonly said that you are essentially the sum of the five people you spend the most time with, and as my business is such a key part of who I am and what I do, I make sure that my mentor is one of those key five people for me.

So, a short piece from me as I absorb all the information from the weekend this week – but an important mindset piece for you this week nonetheless: who are the five people you’re choosing to spend the most time with in your life and business?

If you don’t have a business mentor, make sure you find someone who has achieved what you want to achieve, but most importantly, someone who is being who you want to be in the way they work – after all you’ll find your business will grow you into a bigger person – just make sure it’s the person you want to become.

What it feels like to be a VIP

Last week I invested more money than I ever have on anything in my life and became a VIP client of my business mentor, Bernadette Doyle.

It was a HUGE decision – I’ve had a fantastic year so far this year with her support but now I’m stepping it up and in massive way and in the next 12 months I’ve decided my business is going stellar. Did I tell you it’s a large investment? (I can’t quite believe what I’ve done!!) It is, it’s in the tens of thousands of pounds, and I want to share with you what it feels like to invest to that level in yourself and your business.

Firstly I feel a sense of lightness. You think it would feel heavy, the financial commitment would feel like a burden, but it’s the exact opposite – I think it’s because I know I’ve got someone on my side to show me how to get where I want to go faster, quicker and with fewer tears!! And one of the things I love about working with Bernadette is that she helps me cross 90% off my to-do list and focus on the things that really make the difference to my business results. Hence the feeling of lightness and the silly smile on my face!

I feel confident, I feel determined to succeed and I’m setting bigger and more exciting goals than I ever dared before and given what I’ve invested, I’m damn well going to achieve them. I know I’m going to be stretched out of my comfort zone, in fact one of Bernadette’s favourite sayings is ” Everything that you want that you don’t currently have, is outside of your comfort zone” so I know I’m going to be doing some scary stuff next year – but that’s OK, because she’ll be there to show me how to do it so I have the best chance of getting it right.

And if and when I don’t get it right (we all know every successful business person makes 10 mistakes for every success!), she’s there to sort my mindset out, helping me learn from my experiences and putting me back on track.

But best of all, I’m going to learn sooo much that all my clients will benefit from too – if you’re on the JigsawBox Bootcamp or one of my VIPS, you better watch out, I’m going to be challenging you to do some awesome stuff!

So why am I sharing this with you? Because if you’re not giving your clients the opportunity to feel like this, you are doing them a HUGE disservice.  Can you see how determined I am to succeed? Can you count on the fact that I’m going to do my homework and turn up on time for my sessions? Do you think I’m going to achieve amazing things in the next 12 months and give Bernadette a big proportion of the credit?

You bet I am – and all because the price was high enough to make me shake for a week.

How would you like to have clients who feel like that?
