The Lazy Way to Create Good-Looking Opt-In Pages

I’m sure you all know about the benefits of having a squeeze page on your website (at least one)? By this I mean a simple page with no navigation or sidebars, where they only choice those landing have on the page is to exchange their email for your free item of value, ethical bribe or teleseminar details, or leave.

They have been proved time and again to be extremely effective – there’s no distraction to take your visitors off to some more interesting looking link – you’ve removed that element from the page for them so the call to action is really clear.

I spent months trying to design these pages myself (badly). I’m lousy at html – it’s just not one of my strengths! and I know nothing of dreamweaver, frontpage or all those other clever things that will help you do this job and I’m too lazy/ not interested enough to learn.

But now I’m a big fan of Squeeze Theme for my wordpress blog – in fact that’s what you can see me using for this blog right here. I like the blog layout because it’s clean and simply and I can also drag in videos and opt-in boxes to the sidebar really simply.

But the main reason I’m such a fan is because Squeeze Theme allows you to create pages (not just blog posts) in your wordpress website with a great squeeze page layout and a good-looking opt-in box.

(If you’ve been a victim of the boring old 1ShoppingCart grey ‘submit’ button, you’ll know what I mean!).

And they make it really easy, you literally just choose a page template from a drop-down menu ranging from a sales page, to a blog layout, to a landing page to 4 different types of squeeze page, add your opt-in code from aweber or 1ShoppingCart and the text for the page, choose your colours (without the slightest glimmer of html required) and hit publish.

You can add videos to your opt-in page, change whether they appear on the left or right – create two columns or just one and it basically looks really nice!

But what’s really cool is that this week Squeeze Theme released a wordpress plugin which lets you give ANY wordpress theme a sleek squeeze page option -so you can keep the look of your wordpress site, just add in this easy-to-use drag and drop functionality.

I’m having a play with it this week and loving it so far (so yes, this an affiliate link) – how about you? Check out squeeze plugin here.
