About Us
JigsawBox was created by Nicola Bird. Having spent the majority of her career working in large organisations such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and the NHS, Nicola decided to retrain as a coach in 2006 after having her second child in order to gain the flexibility and personal fulfillment from working for herself.
“What is my story? I really enjoyed working in large organisations with the ‘buzz’ that you get there, but after having my second child I realised that I wanted more control over the hours I wanted to work and a career that worked around my family rather than vice versa. I decided to train as a professional coach.”
“I came across online coaching in early 2007 and immediately fell in love with the concept. I could really see how this would benefit my clients, many of whom were juggling small children with running their own businesses and just didn’t have the available time to sit down for a regular meeting with their business coach. My clients were mainly one-man/one-woman bands and wanted the connection and ongoing support that weekly coaching could provide, but couldn’t afford to pay £400-£500 a month to get this.”
“Early in 2008 I started delivering my own online interactive coaching programme for small business owners and in October of 2008 I emigrated from London to Wellington, New Zealand and took all my clients with me. In August 2009 I decided to return to the UK and who knows if my family and I will stay or go elsewhere – my business is totally transportable now.”
Nicola created JigsawBox to be a simple yet flexible online platform so that other coaches and clients can also interact at a time, in a place that suits them, and at a price clients can afford.
